KANO — The Democratic Alliance, yesterday, declared that the proposed mega party as envisaged by some rightwing politicians is a replica of the ruling party, saying “it’s another mega error.”
President of Democratic Alliance, Dr. Abayomi Ferreira, told journalists in Kano at the end of the 51st meeting of the movement in the city that those behind the move had no clear departure from those they want to dislodge from power.
Ferreira who cited historical antecedents of similar effort in the Nigerian chequred political history noted that the effort was self seeking and had no potential to ginger socio economic development in the country.
“They are the same type in PDP that they want to displace. Many of them move in and out of PDP on the basis of incessant search for post and easy access to our treasury.
“Suffice it to say that the entire effort will not bring economic development to this country,†Ferreira said.
The President said 2011 presented an opportunity for Nigerians to dislodged the ruling PDP from power, stressing that the feat can be achieved through political education of voters.
Ferreira explained that Nigerian political woe was traceable to geographical zoning of strategic positions, adding that the step has drag the country backward.
He lamented that the selfish formula introduced in the Nigerian politics in 1979 had stagnated the country political progress, accusing the right wing politicians of promoting the method.
“We don’t believe in zoning, and geographical zoning of position has held this country down because the practice fires up some wrong people in the system,” Ferreira said.
