LAGOS — As part of the effort to reduce the high rate of unemployment in Lagos State, Governor Babatunde Fashola has launched a job registration website portal for graduates and undergraduates in the state.
Fashola, while launching the website yesterday at the Lagos State auditorium, Ikeja, said: “The website is another opportunity for youths who are still unemployed to become self-reliant by linking up to the free website for job registration.â€
The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Mrs. Sarah Sosan, described the website, ‘www.jobcreation.lagosstate.gov.ng’ as a new and fresh opportunity of stimulating provision of jobs by linking job seekers with prospective employers.
He added that this would lead to creating entrepreneurship initiatives as well as skill acquisition and empowerment programmes and stated that the initiative would not only remove the stress of linking job seekers to their employers but also reduce the rate of crime in the country.
The governor also urged all employers of labour to make good use of the portal because the state government could not do it alone it
Speaking earlier, Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Tola Kasali said the opportunity that the portal offered was not only for job seekers, but also as reference point for data collection and demographers in the state.
