ENUGU—THE Justice Party of Nigeria at the weekend endorsed the candidature of Governor Peter Obi of the All Progressigve Grand Alliance, APGA, for Saturday’s governorship election in Anambra State, saying he (Obi) is the only candidate with convincing credentials for the election.
The party said that its inability to present candidates for the governorship poll followed its realization that it did not possess the competitive edge to mount a successful campaign.
Rising from its national convention held in Enugu, which was attended by over 1000 delegates drawn from the various states of the federation, the party directed its members in Anambra State to vote massively for the APGA candidate, stressing that he had proven to understand what it takes to be in government.
National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralph Obioha, who received the overwhelming support of the delegates to continue to lead the party in his present capacity in a resolution he read at the end of the convention, said that Justice Party, could not muster enough support that could have enabled it present candidates at the poll, hence its decision to work with APGA to deliver Obi.
He said, “it will be a mortal sin to abandon our civic responsibility to remain uncommitted under the feeble excuse that since our party did not present a candidate for the election that it is none of our business to participate in ensuring that the right man or woman emerges.â€
