LAGOS — THE Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora, yesterday in Lagos, said those challenging the decision of the National Assembly empowering Dr. Goodluck Jonathan as Acting President were ignorant of the exigency of the decision of the National Assembly.
Mamora who spoke at a book launch, “Lagos State House of Assembly: A decade of positive legislation†written by a staff of the Assembly, Miss Folake Obajimi Oke, said the decision of the National Assembly should not be assessed from legal or constitutional aspects alone, but from the fact that it was taken to solve a political situation .
Mamora said it was too late for people to complain about the decision when they did not have a clear understanding of why that decision was taken and explained that the resolution was passed to avert a pending crisis, and those who went to court were free to do so.
According to him, “the resolution was unanimous and passed by the National Assembly, endorsed by past heads of state and head of government in this country, endorsed by chief justices of this country, endorsed by the forum of governors, endorsed by the conference of speakers and by the civil societies.â€
