A bearish trend was recorded on the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE), last week, as investors lost a significant portion of their investment in the market, as the value of listed equities depreciated by N44.23 billion.
The key market indices represented by the market capitalisation and the All-share index both dipped by 0.8 per cent each. The market capitalisation which opened the week at N5.580 trillion dipped by N44.23 billion to close the week at N5.536 trillion, while the All-share index lost 183.64 basis points to close at 22,985.00 points from 23,168.64 it opened.
The plunge was occasioned by losses on the share prices of majority of the listed equities, led by Nigerian Breweries Plc, with a loss of N3.00 to close at N57.00 per share, followed by BOC Gases Plc losing N1.11 to close at N10.39 per share while RT Briscoe (Nigeria) Plc lost N0.96 to close at N4.54 per share.
exchanging 40.78 million shares valued at N20.39 in 19 deals and AIICO Insurance Plc recorded 30.28 million shares valued at N33.26 million in 634 deals.
