OWERRIâ€”The Federal Government has agreed to partner with Imo State Government to complete the on-going Royal Oak Refinery and Petrochemical Industry in Egbema.
Governor Ikedi Ohakim disclosed this while addressing a cross section of Imo people shortly on arrival at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, SMICA, Owerri, from Abuja.
â€œThe Federal Government, through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has adopted the state governmentâ€™s document and has seen reason for the continued work on the refinery,â€ Ohakim said.
According to the Governor, the Managing Director of the Corporation and his staff met with the state governmentâ€™s team on the issue, adding that the NNPC boss and his staff would visit the state any moment from now, to personally assess the facilities on ground.
Governor Ohakim also disclosed that the Federal Government had approved the state governmentâ€™s request to establish a Naval Base in Oguta, adding that the Chief of Naval Staff would soon visit the state to ensure the realization of the project.
