Three top seeds, one each in the boys 12, 16Â and 18 failed to reach the semi-finals as they suffered upsets in very close encounters with unseeded players.
Ayinde Rasaq, the boys 18 fourth seed, was edged out 10-9 after a temperamental tie-break that Adeleke from the Country Club in Ikeja finally won.
In the boys 16, Adeniyi Olatunji who had earlier eliminated number two seed, Dara Ajulo from Oyo State in the second round, continued to display some fine form moving into the semi-finals by beating Shokunbi Mojeed 9-5. Third seed in the category, Komolafe Afeez from Lagos fell to club mate Gbenga Mustafa 9-7.
Christopher Itodo from Kaduna, the fourth seed in the boys 12, was comprehensively beaten by team-mate John Dickson 9-1. Dickson would now meet number one seed Sylvester Emmanuel in one semi-final while the other semi-final in the cadre will be contested by Michael Michael, the number two seed from Kaduna and Sylvester Ominiyi from Lagos.
The tournament run by the International Tennis Academy has designated today and tomorrow as semi-finals days. The competition ends on Sunday
