ABUJAâ€”The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Mr. Parry Osayande, a retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police has announced that the Commission will be sending its staff to monitor the conduct of Policemen during the 6 February 2010 governorship election in Anambra State.
Mr. Osayande who was speaking while receiving the National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee, Alhaji Ahmed Tahir and the national executive committee who were on a courtesy call last Monday in Abuja stated that henceforth, the commission will continue to monitor the conduct of Policemen on election duties all over the country with a view to ensuring that they live up to standards by ensuring a hitch-free election.
Commending members of the Police Community Relations Committee for their selfless service to the Nigeria Police and the nation, he stressed that the Commission cannot show enough appreciation.
The Chairman announced that the Commission will establish a desk to liaise with the committee so as to have a regular communication.Â He also stated that the Commission had during its tour of State Police Commands stressed the need for policemen to embrace respectful policing, adding that it was gratifying to know that the message is evidently taking root.
