ANOTHER attempt by some stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State to reconcile aggrieved members of the party failed to achieve the desired result as most of the top notchers of the party shunned it.
The party’s candidate in the February 6 election, Prof Chukwuma Soludo; former presidential aide, Dr. Andy Uba, who contested the election on the platform of the Labour Party (LP); Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, who defected to the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) after failing to secure the PDP ticket; Mrs. Uche Ekwunife, who contested on the platform of the Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) and most of the 47 aspirants who bought the party’s governorship form for the election were conspicuously absent.
In what appeared to be their displeasure over the roles played by many members of the party, which led to its poor performance, supporters of Soludo embarked on a demonstration at the venue of the meeting, condemning the organizers who they described as having worked against PDP during the election.
The demonstrators displayed placards and marched towards the convoy of the convener of the meeting, the information minister, Prof Dora Akunyili, forcing drivers in his convoy to drive off in top speed.
