This is certainly not the best of times for Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan (3SC) currently campaigning in the Globacom Premier League. The Mutiu Adepoju led side came into the Premier league with high hopes but that hope appears to have been dashed especially with their performance in the league so far.
Last week, the Oluyole Warriors lost 2-0 to Niger Tornadoes and on Wednesday were held to a goalless draw at the Adamasingba Stadium by Ranch Bees.
The team is placed second from the rear and have only 17 points to show for its effort in the league. General Manager, Adepoju has promised that the fortunes of the club will change this year but that change appears to be a mirage. Today, the Ibadan side will play host to defending champions Bayelsa United and another war is expected. Bayelsa, like 3SC is not having a good run in the season and they are hell bent on leaving the relegation zone. A win for Bayelsa today will do them a world of good as they gear up to be privatized by the state government.
Against Bayelsa, 3SC defender Daniel Mendiel who was issued a red card will not be available for the stars who are doing everything possible to leave the troubled waters.
In today’s match, Bayelsa will need to give its best to secure the maximum points. Currently they are placed 12th  with 20 points, having defeated Ocean Boys 2-1 in the mid week game.
