One of Nigeria’s notable ICT Distributor’s, Technology Distributions, is set to launch a branch in Liberia in the second week of February 2010.
The launch is expected to attract the President of Liberia, Ms Johnson Sirleaf, who would lead the Liberian cabinet, Captains of Industry and ICT Stakeholders to herald the arrival of the continent’s premier bulk mover of ICT products.
TD hopes to use the launch to make its brand positioning statement while pointing to a new era of professionalism and profitability for the ICT market in Liberia.
Managing Director of the company, Mrs. Chioma Ekeh said that TD would take to Liberia a full compliment of the international OEM’s whose partnership, over the years, have built the unassailable supporting evidence for the world_class performance of TD.
Leading OEM’s like HP, Zinox, Toshiba, Acer, and Dell, according to her, would all be adequately represented in a bouquet that is bursting at the seams. Other international brands include Cisco, the world’s number 1 manufacturer of networking equipment and Microsoft, World Number 1 Software Company.
She also said that her company’s presence in Liberia would mean increasing the range of choice available to consumers, boost competition to enhance consumer value, patronize local professionals and other service providers as well as employing and developing local skills in product support/maintenance, which all would contribute to national revenue through tax payments.
For her, TD’s involvement in IT products transcends business concerns. “Information Technology has become the key driver of knowledge and development across the world, and countries that aspire to become or remain truly independent and competitive in contemporary global political economy have no choice but to develop a strong indigenous IT capacity. She said that regrettably Africa has lagged behind in the ensuing global paradigm shift from commodity_based to knowledge_based economy.
Mrs Ekeh said that a critical aspect of TD’s mission in Liberia, as in Ghana and Nigeria, is to act as an effective facilitator of IT revolution, achieved through making quality IT products accessible, affordable and usable in the local markets.
The expansion into Liberia, the TD Boss said, marks a major milestone in the evolution of Technology Distributions Limited. The company commenced business almost 10 years ago as a modest distributor of information technology products. TD has since evolved into a truly international world_class company with offices in the Netherlands, UK, Nigeria and Ghana.
