Onyx
is a rich-looking, gemstone with alternating light and dark bands, which are coloured in brown, red, black, white and grey. The black onyx is often associated with negative emotions such as sorrow and grief. Regarded as the birth stone for the month of February, it is often mixed with pearls to create elegant jewellery. Because it can easily get scratched, it is better to store the different specimens
separately.

Sapphire
Sapphires are durable gernstones, one of the few stones that can l:e created in the laboratory. Known as the September birth stone, Sapphires are generally blue in colour- but it can go from deep blue to mid blue. Non blue ones are referred to as fancies. Because it blends with ever) thing that is constant, it is a favourite engagement stone for most women as it symbolises loyalty. High quality sapphires are rare. Quality sapphires are found in Ceylon, Thailand, Australia, India, Burma, Africa, and Brazil.

Emerald
Known as the birth stone of May, emeralds exist in hues of green but the most desired is the deep green because the deeper the green, the more its value. A fine emerald has a brilliant ellectric green colour. Pale emeralds are not called emeralds, but “green beryl”. Although emeralds are notorious for their flaws, some people prefer it as the flaws serve as a mark of its originality. When caring for your emerald stone, avoid harsh detergent and hot water or any cleansing solution that contain any petroleum distillates.

Ruby
Often referred to as the king of gernstones, a ruby is a pink to blood-red gemstone. The red colour is caused mainly by the presence of the element chromium. Its name comes from ruber, Latin for red. Commonly found in the Mogok Valley in Upper Myanmar (Burma), this region has produced some of the finest rubies ever mined.

Coral
The coral is a biogenetic precious gemstone, believed among the Mediterranean and Indians to be with mysterious sacred properties. Red corals grow on rocky sea bottom with low sedimentation, typically in dark environment either in the depths or in dark caverns of crevices. The hard skeleton of red coral branches is naturally matte, but can be polished to a glassy shine. Common worn by royals, corals remain a great accessory for jazzing up traditional outfits.
