Come February 6th Â Â Â 2010,Â Sapele Athletics Club Golf section in Delta State will be a beehive of activities as the best of lady golfers from the South South zone lay siege at the newly constructed golf facility as Lady Golfers Association of Nigeria (LGAN) Vice President South Liz Ogbetuo hosts her inaugural tournament.
Over 100 lady golfers, 40 male golfers are expected to grace the event which willÂ see the former Southern zonal President Chief Mrs Meg Attoh hand over to new President Liz Ogbetuo. The event is also expected to propel Sapele Athletic Club GolfÂ section to the rest of Nigeria.
The event which was earlier billed for December last year was moved forward to FebruaryÂ 6th, 2010 due to logistics reasons and the two-timeÂ Lady Captain of Ibori Golf and Country Club, Asaba said, all is set for the tournament, which will feature the best lady golfers from the zone and beyond.
â€œThis is my inaugural tourney as the Lady Golfers Association of Nigeria (LGAN) Vice President South and in line with our tradition, we intend to have top dignitaries from the nooks and crannies of the country at the event. LGAN president Mrs Ngozi Osuhor will be there and other top members of LGAN”, she said. The highlight of the eventÂ is the putting out by former Southern President Mrs Attoh and the putting in by Mrs Ogbetuo.
The tourney which is expected to pull golfers to the club that is been taunted as the oldest in Nigeria. The greens at the golf section of the club has been under construction and was recently completed thus the greens will be recieving their first baptism from golfers. Ogbetuo hinted that she intends to host the second edition of the tournament next year 2011 in Warri.
