OLEH—The publisher of Isoko Mirror, Felida Essi, has said Isoko Heroes Award was not one conferred on criminals and impostors, but on those who have, overtime, contributed to the growth and development of Isokoland, and used their positions and wealth to help suffering Isoko masses.
Speaking at the launching and award of Isoko Mirror at James Ekpre Otobo Hall in Oleh, Isoko South local government area, Delta State, Essi also asserted that “ you may be aware that Isoko Mirror came into being in March 2005 to enhance Isoko corporate objective of effective information dissemination across Delta State and adjacent states in the Niger Delta.
She also added that though it had been quite challenging and the harrowing, it had also been worthwhile, given the parlous state of the nation’s economy in which she operated.
“ I am not unaware of the enormous task, I must surmount in my bid to guarantee wider and affective coverage of Isoko, Delta State and neighboring Statesâ€.
According to the publisher “To achieve this cardinal objective and to ensure that our readers at the grassroots are well informed about happenings in the governance of the state and other events, we have turned our strategies to affectively and effiently redefine and bring about a new vista in community journalism. And we will also fulfill our surveillance role as the watch dog of the society.â€
In this regard Isoko mirror will continue to play its intermediary role by relaying information concerning government policies programmes and procedure, particularly the three point agenda of the Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghen administration in Delta state, to the people and relay people opinions, aspirations and demands back to the government.
Meanwhile also speaking at the ceremony, the chairman of the occasioned comrade Ovuzurie Macaulay, who was duly represented by Barrister Vincent Omorie said that newspaper publishing is for information dissemination on, giving the size of Nigeria, Delta and the small size of Isoko, if there is any person who can venture as this lady has done, and running this publication since 2005 without any formal support.
