Police, 14-man robbery gang in gun duel

MAKURDI —Shortly after receiving kudos from the people of the state for ensuring a crime-free yuletide season, men of the Benue State Police Command, weekend, engaged a group of bandits numbering about fourteen, in a bloody gun duel that left six members of the gang riddled with bullets.

The incident which was likened to a Hollywood action movie happened at Youghu village in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area and was the first major incident to be recorded by the Benue State Police Command in the year.

Confirming the clash to newsmen in Makurdi, Benue State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed explained that the gang, which was led by an indigene of the area (names withheld), had in recent times tormented residents and motorists along the Katsina-Ala Tor Donga axis  and dispossessing them of their valuables.
