Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, is set to broadcast live 28Â matches of the Orange/CAF Nations Cup tagged Angola 2010 to 80 million Nigerians as the tournament runs January 10 -31.
NTA zonal director, Yusuf Jibo, stated in a press conference in Lagos that the NTA in partnership with African Sports Consulting, AFNEX and Hensen Trust Group, has been granted the biggest sports property in the continent from now till 2014. He said the agreement had earlier been signed in Paris, France, which covers both the television and radio broadcast right for sub-sahara Africa, they also have the rights for Orange CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup, CAF Super Cup and others.
He pointed out that being a big brother to other television stations in Nigeria, the NTA will carry all stations along,Â provided they meet up with the agreement reached between them, he insisted that their doors are wide open to accept any TV station that is ready to partner with them to make Nigerians happy during the Nations Cup.
Speaking on behalf of the other partners, Mr. Dan Ngerem, Chairman, Hensen Trust Group, thanked NTA for collaborating with them in the business of sports broadcasting in the country. â€œNTA has the widest reach in terms of coverage with about 95 operating stations around the nation.
â€œWith NTA on our side we can to monitor those stations that engage in ambush marketing and illegality.” He advised TV and radio stations in the country to do the right thing by entering into agreement with NTA.
