Nigeria vs Ghana: Why Amodu is effecting changes
The Nigeria national team campaigning at the on-going Africa Cup of Nations in Angola will today take on arch-rivals, Ghana in the second semi final match of the tournament. Many Nigerians, home and abroad see the encounter as a big test for the coach Shaibu Amodu team which had tottered and wobbled all through.
But word from the Eagles Luanda camp have it that team coach, Amodu Shaibu and the players are not unaware of the general feeling across the land and have resolved to put up a better performance against the Black Stars who defeated them at the quarter final stage of the competition two years ago in Ghana.
Coach Amodu has hinted that he would make radical changes to the team as some of the players were evidently tired after playing two matches in one week and travelling from one end of the country to another for their group and quarter final matches.
Amodu has said that some of the fresh legs on the bench yet to taste action would be drafted in to strengthen the team .
With the red card bagged by vastly improved Onyekachi Apam in their quarter final match with Zambia, it is being speculated that CSKA Moscow roving defender, Chidi Odia could make the starting line up, depending on the fitness level of stand-in captain, Joseph Yobo.
