NDDC: Erema community thanks Yar Adua over Ugwoha’s appointment

The people of Erema of Egi Clan in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State have expressed their gratitude to President Musa Yar’Adua for appointing their son, Mr. Chibuzor Ugwoha, as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

Speaking during the flag-off of a two-week free healthcare programme organised by the NDDC in collaboration with AM Projects at the Erema General Hospital, Comrade Stanley Onuoha, Chairman, Erema Community Development Committee, thanked President Yar’Adua for his benevolence in appointing their son the NDDC Chief Executive.

Comrade Onuoha also thanked the Board and Management of the NDDC for not only embarking on infrastructural development projects in their area but for also extending its free healthcare programme to Erema for the benefit  of the 17 communities of Egi Clan and their neighbouring people of Ekpeye Kingdom.

Speaking during the occasion, Mr. Chibuzor Ugwoha, who was represented by Mrs. Osato Arenyeka, Deputy Director, Education, Health and Social Services, EHSS in the Commission, said the NDDC free healthcare programme is one of the key deliverables of the Niger Delta Regional Development Master Plan, midwifed by the NDDC to ensure that the people of the region are kept healthy to enjoy the physical and social infrastructural development the Master Plan has earmarked for the region.

Giving a breakdown of the success story of the two weeks free healthcare programme, Dr. Kelvin Obasogie, Coordinator AM Projects, a non governmental organization comprising volunteer Doctors and Paramedics, disclosed that over 11,000 patients benefited from the exercise.

Dr. Obasogie said the medical mission performed 150 surgical operations including three Caesarian sections to save the lives of three pregnant women who were on danger list as a result of serious complications in their pregnancies.
