OWERRI—Over 60undergraduates from universities across the country have benefitted from the Chief Ikedi Ohakim Osu Scholarship Foundation for tertiary institution students.
The exercise has entered its second phase after the first in 2008, where no fewer than 30 students benefitted from the fund.
Addressing the beneficiaries of the scholarship award at Osu Central School, Osu, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim explained that his decision to revive the scholarship scheme was born out of his desire to keep the people’s long cultural belief of producing scholars of note from the area.
“As a young student, I was among those who benefitted from such communal effort that made me what I am today. As beneficiaries, you should be role models to the younger ones so as to sustain the scheme.â€
Speaking earlier, the President General of Osu Progressive Union, Chief Eddy Onuoha, said the revival of the Osu Scholarship Scheme was a demonstration of the Governor’s revolutionary desire to enhance the human capacity of the state.
