The Federal Government says it isÂ Â ready to cooperate with the British Council in the area of business productivity and job creation. This is contained in a statement from the Ministry of Science and Technology given to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.
It said arrangements were on to use scientific knowledge and skills from tertiary and research institutions to create jobs and also improve productivity. According to the statement said the Head of the delegation from the British Council, Mr Ben Fisher said this when he paid a courtesy visit on the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Alhassan Zaku. Fisher said that s could be done through collaborative projects between the institutions abroad and the private sectors in Nigeria.
He said that the Knowledge Transfer Partnerships Scheme in collaboration with the British Council and Nigeria, would provide the needed opportunities for the youth to become creative and self-reliant. In his response, Zaku said that Nigeria, faced with the problems of unemployment would partner with the British Council in the areas of productivity and skill acquisition.
He said that various incubation centres had been put in place to train students to carry out various research activities which would assist them become entrepreneurs.
