ENUGUâ€”SPECIAL Adviser on Inter-Community Relations to the Kano State Governor, Mr. Chris Azuka, has been honoured with a chieftaincy title of Dike Ndigbo by the traditional ruler of Mbu in Isiuzo Local Government Area of Enugu State, Eze Gabriel Ugwuokwor, Ezeutazi II.
At a ceremony held in the community, the monarch said the honour was in recognition of Azukaâ€™s contribution to the peaceful co-existence of communities in the country, using his position as an aide to the Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau.
He said that Azuka has not only justified his appointment but has bridged the bond between the Igbo on one hand, and their Northern and Southern brothers, adding that the aide played a prominent role in ensuring that the Kano State Governor identified with peaceful co-existence among different ethnic groups in the country.
According to him, what Nigeria needs at this time is peace and security, pointing out that the exemplary harmonious relationship among different communities in Kano, is what was needed to move the country forward.
In his response, Chief Azuka expressed gratitude to the traditional ruler and people of Mbu for the honour, pointing out that it would spur him to do more for the unity and peaceful co-existence of Nigerians.
