ABEOKUTA – THE Assistant Inspector general of Police, Zone II, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar has taken over the investigation into Monday evening’s brutal killing of the Action Congress (AC) gubernatorial candidate in the April 2007 polls, Otunba Dipo Dina.
Otunba Dina (49) was killed by unknown gunmen suspected to be hired assassins in front of the Covenant University in Ota, Ogun while driving in a Black Toyota Camry.
Vanguard learnt that the AIG decided to take over the investigation because of the high profile nature of it and the directive of Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ogbonnaya Onovo to find the killers.
An impeccable source at the Police Headquarters, Eleweran said “the AIG has taken over the investigation and some operatives have been drafted into the investigation from Onikan (Zone II] to ensure that the killers are arrested.
“Some of the detectives drafted from Onikan are already on ground in Ogun State; some of them even came here very early this morning to see the Commissioner. I am sure everything is being done to get the killersâ€
