ENUGU—GOVERNOR Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, yesterday swore in the 17 local government chairmen and their deputies elected during the December 5, 2009 local government election in the state.
He charged them to deploy the resources at their disposal to pursue people oriented programmes and policies.
Administering the oath of office on the new council chairmen, 11 of who were re- elected for a second term of two years, Governor Chime also urged them to run “an all-inclusive government that derives its strength and focus from wide consultations.â€
He advised them to remain transparent in all their activities both in official and personal capacities.
He tasked the re-elected council chairmen to build on the successes they made during their first tenure and explore new avenues to improve on their performances, so as to better the lives of the people at the grassroots.
To the new chairmen, the Governor enjoined them to keep faith with the promises they made during their campaigns and be guided by the policies of his government and the manifesto of the Peoples Democratic Partry, PDP.
