Anambra: PDP sacks Andy Uba, Ukachukwu, Ekwunife

By Henry UMORU,Abuja
FOR dumping the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) for other opposition parties, the national leadership of the party yesterday ordered the National Vice Chairman of the party in the South East Zone, Chief Olisa Metu and Chairman of the Caretaker Committee in Anambra State, Professor Osita Ogbu to immediately deregister the names of Dr. Andy Uba and Nicholas Ukachukwu from the party.
According to the party as gathered, the move was to ensure that they were not given any chance of returning back to the party in future.

The tall order was contained in a letter with reference number PDP/NS/NVC/SE/001_2010 that was made available to Saturday Vanguard and entitled “De Registering Dr. Andy Uba, Nicholas Ukachukwu from PDP.

In the letter signed by the National Secretary of the party, Baraje Abubakar Kawu, the PDP directed that their names be removed from the party’s list from the ward, local, state and national levels.

Part of the letter read, “As you are aware that Andy Uba, who is a member of our great party in Anambra state, is now a candidate for Anambra state governorship election coming up next month.

“By contesting an election on the platform of another political party, the Labour party, without formal resignation of his membership of our great party, PDP, Andy Uba has clearly forfeited his membership of our party, and it is expected that you will take up the matter by deregistering him at all level our party, PDP in Anambra state and advice the NWC as soon as possible.”

The same content of the letter was also written to Ukachukwu in another letter with reference number PDP/NS/NVC/SE/002_2010 which was copied Olisa Metu and Dr. Osita Ogbu.

It will be recalled that both Uba and Ukachukwu have since left PDP to contest the governorship election under the platform of Labour Party and Hope Democratic Party respectively.

Another member of PDP that has decamped is Hon. Uche Ekwunife who is currently the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) governorship candidate in the Anambra February 6, 2010 election.

It would be recalled that at the last National Executive Committee(NEC) meeting of the party, held in December last year, the National Chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, National Chairman of PDP, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, warned that any member of the party who must have decamped to another party would not be allowed to come back.
