According to the graduate of Computer Science from University of Lagos who recently won an award as the Most Creative Event Planner in 2009, “the preparation towards the birth of Sparrow Event was conceived in 1990 as a hobby that latter metamorphosed into a profession. “While I was still in school”, she revealed,” I realized that I could put things together and come up with beautiful décor, so,  gradually, I continued to improve on my work, taking care of details, and eventually Sparrows Events Plus came to the stage. Our work speak for itself. It only became a full time job soon after I got married and became an expectant mother. I resigned and went into décor and event planning full time.”

On the services provided by her outfit, Mrs. Adetu explained, “we have two major training schedules,  tailored to suit the time frame and convenience of each student. We have the normal Monday to Friday training programs for those who have the time. We also have the special training program for those who are employed. Again, considering the fact that most people who intend acquiring these skills, are married women, some are employed but want to acquire these skills before resigning from their formal jobs. Saturdays are strictly for practical when we go for field work. While the maximum duration of our training program for any student, irrespective of their learning ability is one month”.

Mrs. Adetu gave a critical profile of the potential event planner as  “one who is able to effectively use her brain to think up creative ideas, eyes to see and evaluate, and hands to work, noting that people need is training to enhance their in born talent. As a student, you should have the interest, the flair and strength, because the job is 99% practical and 1% theory”.

On the seeming proliferation of the industry, Adetu said she believes that the industry has a broad field for everyone to work. “I don’t see anybody as a competitor. I see them as my partner, workers and collogues and I have a good relationship with a lot of key players in the industry”.

Sparrows Event Plus has been able to efficiently cope with challenges by churning out new ideas, being creative and innovative, thereby remaining on top of their game.
