UYO â€” Arrange-ments for the hosting of the fourth Akwa Ibom State Economic Summit has been concluded, the Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Goddy Umoh, has said.
Umoh, who said this in an interview with Vanguard yesterday, added that the summit, billed for the first quarter of the year, is to showcase the rich economic potentials of the state.
He said the state had also provided 50 per cent of the N1.6 billion Conditional Grant Scheme, CGS, a component of the Millenium Development Goals projects, with a target to provide 285 primary health centres and motorised or solar-driven borehole water projects in all council areas of the state.
The commissioner said the state would partner with the European Union to undertake close to 133 micro projects under the MPP9 projects in rural communities.
Umoh, who said the stateâ€™s 2010 budget was based on Akwa Ibom State Economic Empowerment Development Strategies (AKSEEDS), noted that the AKSEEDS had one of the best benchmark as scored by an international agency, FITCH.
