ACTION Congress (AC) Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has cited absence of proper information as the cause of controversy surrounding President Umaru Yar’Adua’s health, saying the country should be regularly updated about the President’s health.
He also said the AC was worried about the state of the nation, even as he noted that the party would continue to be the hope of Nigerians.
The AC scribe said this at the party’s pre-convention press briefing yesterday in Lagos.
According to him, “we should be able to take up issues and tackle them. There is need to be guided by the constitution. The problem is not really the president’s health, but lack of proper information. As a public servant, people should know that his life is no longer private. Nigerians deserve the right to know the true state of the president’s health.â€
He further said the party’s forthcoming convention was meant to showcase to the world that AC was the only focussed party in Nigeria.
“We are worried and concerned about the state of the nation, that is why our convention will focus on the press, governance and people’s mandate. There is need for total and complete transparency in governance. The PDP is saying that the opposition is happy about the president’s health.
It is not like that. Despite the fact that we were cheated in the last general elections, we still wish him quick recovery. AC remains the only focussed and viable party in Nigeria,†he said.
