The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) is to hold the Top 8 National Championships in both male and female categories from Jan. 15 to Jan. 24, 2010 in Abuja.
The NVBF Secretary, Patrick Abobi said in Lagos Monday that the championships would determine the national rankings of players.
Abobi said some corporate organisations had been contacted to sponsor the NVBF-organised event, adding that follow-up visits to such outfits would start early January.
“We (NVBF) have loaded activities in 2010, both at the continental and national levels.
“We will be depending on financial support from corporate organisations and the National Sports Commission (NSC) to enable us to realise our goals,†Abobi said.
The secretary said that funds at the federation’s disposal would determine which of the continental and international competitions Nigerian players would feature in.
Abobi, who was recently moved to the NVBF from the Fives Federation of Nigeria and Parasoccer, hailed the federation’s achievements in the out-going year.
“I resumed at the NVBF not long ago. But from what I have been able to read from the file, the federation performed well in 2009,†he remarked.
