By Fidelis Ebu, Abuja

Shaibu Amodu,  Eagles Chief Coach, has promised to live up to expectations in next month’s African Cup of Nations in Angola.  Amodu made the promise after he was given a brand new jeep of undisclosed model and brand for his efforts in qualifying the nation for the South Africa 2010 World Cup finals.

“To whom much is given, much is expected; so we are going to Angola which is a stepping stone in our realisation of the big dream in South Africa in June.  “We are going to use  Angola to prove that these Eagles can fly and fly really high”,  Amodu said while showing appreciation for the N1 million cash given to him by the Presidential Task Force set up by President Umaru Yar’Adua to ensure the nation’s flag would be among those to be hoisted in South Africa during the FIFA World Cup finals.

He, however, stated that “the gift is like a winner takes it all, but I will share it with others”.  While the PTF gave Amodu the sum of N1 million and a jeep, his three assistants were each given the sum of N500,000 for qualifying for South Africa 2010 World Cup.

Amodu was, however, emphatic when he said that the flaws in the team would be corrected in the few days they have to prepare for the continental championship.  “We are aware of the flaws in the team, and in the few days we have to prepare for Angola, we will take care of the flaws”, he said.
