Premier League Clubs’ debts rise to N121m

Players Status and Arbitration Committee has discovered over N121 million  being owed players by both premier and national league clubs in the past three seasons.

This discovery was made from 100 petitions investigated within just three days sitting of the arbitration committee.
And Akwa United, whose 13-0 “demolition” of Calabar Rovers in its bid to gain promotion to the elite club still remain a topical issue in football circle, top the list of clubs owing players and officials.

Their debt is up to  N26 million Barrister Iyke Igbokwe, a member of the Players Arbitration Committee as well as the Committee’s spokesman said eleven premier clubs were indebted to players and officials; and seven national clubs also owe players and officials various sums.

Wikki Tourist of  Bauchi owe N11 million debt, and they are followed by Kwara United whose figure is  N11.2 million.
El-Kanemi Warriors and Plateau United are owing N10.5m and N8.8m respectively.

Troubled Insurance would require N6.2m to settle players and officials just as Bayelsa United are owing N6.2; and Sharks FC and Warri Wolves have N5.2 each to pay players and officials.
