PPA challenges PDP over plans to un-seat Orji in 2011

By Anayo Okoli
Umuahia—THE ruling Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) in Abia State has challenged the PDP over its (PDP) boast that it would sack Governor Theodore Orji’s government through the ballot box in 2011, saying it will be an uphill task for the PDP to accomplish.

The government said it was on ground and working for the good of the people. It said PDP and its members were operating from Abuja and, therefore, do not have the ability to defeat the PPA in any election.

According to Mr. Uchenna Emezue, the Special Adviser to Governor Orji on Electronic Media, PPA is not afraid of PDP because “it is on ground and attending to the needs of the people of Abia State.”

Emezue also challenged the Senator representing Abia South district, Chief Enyinnaya Abaribe, over his recent claim that the PPA government in the state was a failure. He challenged the Senator to show what he had done for his people since he went to Abuja as a Senator.

The Governor’s aide, however, said he did not blame the Senator as, according to him, he has the ambition of becoming the governor under PDP, but explained that he could only achieve that through hard work and good representation and not through criticisms which are not constructive

“PPA is on ground. We are not afraid of PDP. You don’t stay in Abuja and tell people at home that nothing is happening. It is quite sad for Senator Abaribe and other PDP members. People should not take them serious. People should criticize but it be constructive.

“You ask yourself, what has the Senator done for his constituency, you ask yourself, what is his antecedent. The government is working. Contractors have been mobilized to go back to work and resume work from where they stopped. A whole lot of things are happening . the dry pot commissioned recently is in his Ngwaland. Abaribe knows that Abia is working.

“Remember that some Senators came here and praised the government after seeing what the government has done, and they were satisfied with the development in the state. The government is doing well compared with what the allocation it gets. And the government is trying to improve its IGR and hopefully when it improves more work will be done.

“But let me assure you that the government will not distracted by the PDP if they like let them bring their campaign office to the government house, the governor will not allow them to distract him. He is focuses on giving the people good governance”, Emmezue said.
