Osogbo—The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidates in the Wednesday re-run elections in Osun State have been declared winners by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Former chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Iyiola Omisore, was declared winner for the Ife/Ijesha senatorial district while Adeoye Adelakun, also emerged victorious in the Osogbo constituency re-run election.
The victories of both Senator Omisore and Adelakun were made simple base on the boycott of the poll by the main opposition party, AC.
But the main opposition party in the state, the Action Congress, AC, which directed its members to boycott the re-run elections on the account of a stay off order by a federal high court sitting in Lagos descibed the re-run eection as a coup against the electorate in the state.
In the result announced by the INEC, the PDP candidate, Senator Omisore polled 233,210 votes to defeat AC candidate Jide Omoworare who scored 5,026 votes, PPA 743, and UNPP 676 votes.
For the Osogbo House of Assembly re-run, the immediate past member of the house for the constituency who is AC canidate, Akintunde Adegboye polled 583 as against PDP candidate who polled 21,834 votes.
