The Ijaw Monitoring Group (IMG) has described Professor Alele Williams as a special gift from God to the Niger Delta.
In a congratulatory message signed by Comrade Joseph Evah, IMG Coordinator on behalf of the group to mark Alele-William’s 77th Birthday Anniversary, the Ijaw stated that the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin is an accomplished mathematician who has proved to the world that apart from the gift of natural resources, the Niger Delta has abundant talents that can compete with the best brains anywhere in the world. Under the Living Wage policy the government, after adopting the Justice Belgore Committee Report on wages and salaries intends to pass into law a “Living Wage Act†which will replace the 2000 Minimum Wage Act which dictated a minimum wage of N7,500 for every worker in the public and private sectors.
