WARRI â€” THE member representing Warri South Constituency II in the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Dennis Omovie has flagged off a four-day de-worming programme for pupils and studentsÂ of public primary and secondary schools in hisÂ constituency.
Omovie said the de-worming exercise was in line with the 3-Point Agenda of the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, saying that the health of the people will remain a top priority to the present administration of the state.
The lawmaker stated that the deworming exercise was part of his service to the people as he had promised to giveÂ them quality representation.
Omovie thanked a leading pharmaceutical company in Nigeria, GlaxoSmithKline, for collaborating with him to ensure the success of the de-worming programme.
The Executive Secretary, Local Education Authority, Warri South, Mr. Griftson Omatsuli, praised Omovie for his numerous development programme in Warri South Constituency II.
Omatsuli stated that because the children were exposed to various diseases in the society, the de-worming programme would go a long way in addressing the problem.
The representives of the collaborating agencies, Mrs. Bimpe Oladoyin and Mr. Kehinde Ogedengbe, both pharmacists, said the deworming exercise would help the children grow healthy to become future leaders.
The principle of Edjeba Secondary School, Mr. J. A. Tenyo and the Headmistress of Edjeba Primary School, Mrs. J. E. Okpor, described the deworming exercise as a step in the right direction.
They commended the free health care programmeof the state Government and Hon. Dennis Omovie for flagging off the four days de-worming in their schools.
