The National Sports Commission (NSC) Friday suspended the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) president, Engineer Habu Gumel from the federation. The suspension is with immediate effect, according to the National Sports Commission, NSC.
This follows accusations from the Gumel camp of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) that the sports minister/chairman NSC, Engineer Sani Ndanusa allegedly forged a letter from the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) for the purpose of the NOC elections.
The suspension letter signed by the Director General of the NSC, Chief (Dr.) Patrick Ekeji stated that the suspension will remain until investigation into the forgery allegation is completed.
With this suspension, it is however not clear whether Gumel, the incumbent president of the NOC can still present himself for the NOC elections slated for Dutse, Jigawa State on Wednesday.
The NOC under the leadership of Gumel had earlier disqualified the Sports Minister/Chairman NSC on the excuse that his election violated the guidelines for election into the sports federations.
