Asaba—MEMBERS of the Delta State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA,while joining other Nigerians to wish President Umaru Yar’Adua a speedy recovery, has called for improvement of the nation’s health facilities.
The Association’s chairman, Dr. Akpufuoma Pemu, in a statement in Asaba yesterday, said: “The entire members of the Nigerian Medical Association, Delta State branch ,join all well meaning Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to wish our president a speedy recovery.
“This is a clarion call to all levels of governance in the country to urgently improve the health care facilities in Nigeria. This call becomes important, more so because the country where our president is currently hospitalized, a few years ago had her healthcare delivery system being manned mainly by Nigerian medical professionals which goes to show that our predicament is not a dearth of manpower but that of poor health care facilities.
“Much as we do not pray or wish anyone to be sick, provision of quality health care facilities is like having a fire extinguisher in your car as you never know when you’ll need itâ€, he added
