Nigeria, and 241 other countries are warming up to participate in Shanghai World Expo 2010 in China.
The Deputy Director General (Vice Chairman) Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, Shanghai Municipal Peopleâ€™ Government Construction and Communication, Mr. Huang Jianzhi who disclosed this, stated that Nigeria and 241 other countries have confirmed their participation at theÂ World Expo 2010, adding that they are expecting more than 70 million visitors to the event.
According to him, Nigeria delegation to Shanghai, China has taken over the Nigeria Pavilion on behalf of the Federal Government for the Shanghai Expo 2010 in China stating that the pavilion was handed over to the leader of the delegation, Dr. Abubakar Mohammad, the Permanent Secretary of Commerce and Industry at the Headquarters of Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.
Dr. Mohammad in his acceptance speech said that Nigeria is conscious of the time limit base on the fact that they were slightly behind schedule andÂ pointed out that the delegation had selected Yanhua Multimedia from the three service providers namely United Workshop, Cogito Image, Yanhua Multimedia recommended by organizer of the event after a thorough screening, analysis and selection process.
He explained that after the critical analyses of the presentation made by all the three services providers , the organizser believed that Yanhua Multimedia will be able to meet the target of decorating our pavilion.
Mr. Jianzhi also pointed out that in order to make the environment conducive for the participants, the delegation have created participants Service Centre, Zone Management Department who will be in charge of accommodation for International Participants and Press Corps Department, noting that construction and operation of the Expo was estimated to cost China 18 Billion RMB and 10.6 billon respectively.
According to him, the construction of all facilities is scheduled to be completed at the end of this year adding that the site will have its trial opening on April, 2009, a month ahead of the Expo kick-off..
He also said that the Nigeria delegation led by Dr. Abubakar Mohammad and Consul General, Mr. Eri Begham were taken on inspection of the pavilion and apartment allocated to Nigeria.
