Eight Clubs participating in the new season of the Nigeria National League will feel the full wrath of the Nigeria Football Federation if they do not pay the outstanding entitlements of their players and officials by Friday.
Executive Secretary of the National League (Nigeria’s second –tier), Ayo Rahaman said on Tuesday that the Clubs have refused all entreaties and failed to meet several deadlines to fulfill their obligations to their personnel since the beginning of the season.
“A decision has been taken that the concerned Clubs would not take part in the Week 7 matches of the new season, scheduled for this weekend, if they do not meet up with their obligations to players and technical officials by Friday.
“We wrote several letters to these Clubs but they simply refused to comply and the players and coaches concerned are suffering. We are not happy about this.â€
The concerned Clubs are Akwa United FC, Unicem Rovers FC, Prime FC, Mighty Jets FC, Nasarawa United FC, Adamawa United FC, FC Abuja and El–Kanemi Warriors.
Ayo Rahaman added: “A labourer deserves his wages. We know suspension of matches would not be good for the League and that was why we explored all avenues to get these Clubs to see reason. But if they do not pay their players and coaches by Friday, we will have no option than to suspend their games billed for the weekendâ€.
