Determined to ensure Nigeria win the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola, the Nigeria Football Federation has made provision for a physical trainer for the national team and has actually begun search for one.
Nigeria Football Federation president, Sani Lulu, disclosed this on Monday that the federation had taken the step after a request by national team players for the immediate engagement of a physical trainer who would keep them in top physical condition before the Nations Cup.
In a twist that tends to lay credence to the popular call for the fortification of the technical crew, Lulu admitted that it was evident that the team needed a physical trainer and if that was the key to success then they would go all out for one.
“We need a physical trainer; not a technical adviser,†the NFF chieftain said, adding,“our target is to win the Nations Cup and nothing would stand between us and the trophy,†Lulu said.
The NFF boss added that the federation was also looking for the services of a physiotherapist for the national team.
“We will give the Eagles the best and problems associated with match bonuses and allowances would not be allowed to rear its ugly head in Angola and South Africa.â€
He disclosed that the national team would depart Durban, South Africa for Angola on January 8, 2010.
Apparently aware of controversies emanating through negative comments attributed to Amodu, the NFF boss said the federation would also look for a professional media officer for the sweat merchant.
“We apologise for his negative comments. Anyone who talks negatively is tarnishing the image of Nigerian football that is why we are thinking on how best to manage information from him. But I know that most times people twist things he said.
It has happened to me. As for my own case, I leave it to God. But we won’t leave Amodu’s own to Godâ€, Lulu said.
