Jos — Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State has warned local government chairmen against adopting a confrontational stance towards the state government, urging them to see themselves as partners in the task of developing the state.
He stated this, yesterday, at the swearing in of Mr. Brian Dadi of Democratic Peoples’ Party, DPP, as the new chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area following his victory at the election tribunal which nullified the election of Mr. Nandom Pyennap of PDP.
He advised council chairmen to strive for “a harmonious working envi-ronment for the growth of our stateâ€, rather than engage in controversy in their locality or adopt a confrontational posture towards the state government.
Jang warned that the administration would not compromise development at the local government level where most of the people reside, stressing that the third tier of government was critical to the well being of the people.
