The Independent National Electoral Commisson, INEC, yesterday registered 3 more political parties bringing the total number of parties in Nigeria to 54.
The new political parties are: Congress for Progressive Change,CPC, National Transformation Party, NTP, and Democratic Front for a Peoples’ Fedration,DFPF.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the Public Affairs Director of the Commission, Mr. Emmanuel Umenger, where it was stated that: â€œthe political parties were given a clean bill of health after satisfying all the requirements of Section 222 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the ElectoralÂ Act.
â€œThe commission said it approved the registration of the new parties after they had satisfied all requirements specified in Section 222 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and electoral act 2006.
