…urges prayer for Yar’Adua

ABUJAâ€” In an unprecedented development President Umaru Yarâ€˜Adua has declared Christmas Eve, Thursday 24th December 2009 a public holiday.
It is the first time in memory that Christmas Eve would be declared a public holiday in Nigeria.
A statement by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Shetima Mustapha yesterday also declared Christmas Day, 25th December and January 1, 2010 as public holidays.
The statement by the Assistant Director of Press, Stephen Nelson nevertheless, urged Nigerians to use the opportunity of the extended holidays to reflect on the teachings of Jesus the Christ and to pray for the rapid recovery of President Yarâ€˜Adua.
â€The Federal Government has declared Thursday 24th and Friday 25th of December as Public Holidays to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The 1st of January, 2010 has also been approved as work free day to mark the New Year Day.
