AWKA—A group, Step UP Democracy Alliance (SUDA), has condemned media report credited to Senate President David Mark, in which he was alleged to have said that Professor Chukwuma Soludo was imposed on Anambra State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The coalition of Anambra based youth organisation also said that the process that produced Professor Soludo as the candidate of the PDP followed all laid down rules from the first day till the time it was stalemated.
A statement by its President, Mr Chika Okoye, said “first of all, there was a primaries election in which all the candidates mobilized delegates for, but same was aborted following allegations of fraud and malpractices.
When the PDP scheduled to hold another primary, there were court injunctions restraining the party from continuing with the process and the party made all efforts to vacate the court orders until the last hour before INEC deadline for submission of the names of candidates.â€
The group said that PDP invoked a section of its constitution in order to ensure that it participated in the gubernatorial election, adding that it was not done to favour any aspirant.
