FOR Arch Bishop and Primate of All Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Peter Jasper Akinola, it is one thing to float a radio station and call it Love Fm, but another to allow it reflect the principles and tenets of love.
And so, at the dedication of a budding radio station tagged Love FM recently in Abuja, the Primate challenged the owners to always broadcast the truth at all times without fear or favour so that the station would have a place among institutions that helped in creating a better Nigerian society.
Love FM is a new radio station put in place by Multimesh Broadcasting Ltd. It broadcasts on the frequency 104. 5 in Abuja. Looking at the ultra modern office complex housing the radio station Akinola, represented by The Rt. Rev. Duke T. Akamisoko said that such huge investment should have its roots founded on truth even as decried the dearth of truth in the public service sector, saying it was responsible for the decay in the country’s polity.
He urged the young station to strive to always report the truth in order to help liberate and reposition the country for growth.
Lavishing praises on the efforts of Multimesh as he moved round the complex, Akinola remarked that only a visionary could possibly do such work in so short a time and challenged the station to promote and commend people who are industrious while removing the cover from the evil and corrupt ones who do not want to see the country grow.
“Look at this building. Only a great man can do this work in less than a year. There are many of such people all over the country.
Meanwhile, Akonola also challenged the workers to put in their best, explaining that although there is declining commitment and trust among Nigerian workers, he was convinced that Multimesh workers could make a difference for their station to become a true success.
But, Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Engr Yomi Bolarinwa represented by Mr. Patrick Areh, Director, Finance, was to give a somewhat testimonial to the ability of the station to deliver. He said that “for those who do not know the company, Multimesh started small from Cable and now there is Radio and this will be followed by TV and Direct-To-Home (DTH). The company plans a long sustained growth and hopefully in less than five years, it will be there,†he added.
Chairman of Multimesh, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, explained that Mlutimesh is God centric as operators believe that without God nothing is possible adding that “we are asking God to lead us as the dream of the company is bigger than this,â€.
He appealed to the workers to take advantage of the great facilities put at their disposal and work to make the company a success.
Ohuabunwa also commented that “regulators ought to be facilitators and not impediments. But this NBC understands that the more the business grows the better for the regulator and industry.†He however commended the regulator for the growth recorded in the broadcast industry.
Multimesh began broadcast operations in Port Harcourt before gradually spreading to different parts of the East and now Abuja
