Umuahia—ABIA State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji has charged politicians in the country to clean themselves in order to change the negative perceptions about the profession.
Orji argued that the dirtiness usually associated with politics will be cleared from peoples’ mind if politicians play the game according to the rules.
Governor Orji stated this during a meeting with members of Progressive Peoples Alliance, PPA, Abia State working committee at the state party secretariat in Umuahia.
The Governor commended the state House of Assembly for passing a vote of confidence in him in spite of the campaign of calumny against him by his detractors.
Orji also reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and pointed out that he has suffered in his quest to make the party tick and warned that he would be the first to frustrate those who are planning to frustrate him out of the party.
Governor Orji said that his government is not run on gossip but on facts and figures and advised people to verify their facts. He urged PPA members to be faithful and not be shaken even as he restated his respect for the party.
According to Governor, the PPA-led government in the state has done well considering the resources at its disposal adding that those castigating his administration for non performance are not realistic.
Earlier in his remarks, Abia State chairman of the party, Ezeogo Onuoha urged the Governor not to be distracted by rumour mongers whose aim, he said is to discredit his government. He assured the Governor of the support of PPA members as well as that of the former Governor Dr. Orji Kalu.
