WORRIED by growing security concerns in the country as a whole, Catholic Archbishop of Lagos Metropolitan See, Anthony Cardinal Okogie has again urged priests in the archdiocese to be security conscious especially at this festive period.
In a press release signed by the Director of Social Communication, Rev. Monsignor Gabriel Osu, the cardinal said security systems must be beefed up during this season of harvest.
He stressed in his October circular, he said: “We admonish all priests to beef up security systems in the parishes and implore them to maintain propere lithurgical decorum furing the celebration of the Harvest Mass and bazaar”.
Cardinal Okogie said that on no account must the sanctuary be profaned with harvest banners, adding “the sanctuary is a sacred place and the Blessed Sacrament our focal point of worship, takes prominence.”
Meanwhile, the cardinal has frowned at the “flagrant violation’ of the Archdiocesan regulatins concerning the lithurgy that no Masses/Baptism is allowed in private homes.
