By Luka Binniyat
ABUJA— Minister of Aviation, Babatunde Omotoba yesterday stunned members of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation when he staunchly defended a N750million proposal for the erection of a permeter fence in the 2010 budget of the Ministry.
The fence is for Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, Zaria, saying that it was to scare away land speculators from encroaching on the land.
But the members were shock that a fence could cost so much and demanded for explanation
The Minister said it was high quality fence that would ward off encroachment of any kind.
“We have written the Kaduna State governor to help us prevailed on the people to stop encroaching on the land, the people refused, we even wrote the Attorney General of the Federation on the same matter, this is why we want to construct a fence around the institute,†he explained.
He said, that the quality of fence for airports and sundry facilities are not common place fences
