Afrika Shrine explodes for Ikeja Allstarz concert

Indications are high that this year’s Ikeja Allstarz concert will be the biggest ever as more than thirty top musicians have indicated their desires to perform at the New Afrika Shrine, Ikeja come Saturday, 12 December this year.

This is the third edition of the concert which made its debut at the now defunct Do It All Club at Opebi, Ikeja Lagos. The 2008 edition was a sold out concert which held at the New Afrika Shrine, Agindigbi, and featured heavy weights like Klever Jay, Majek Fashek, DJ Zeez, Debee Collabo, Ashionye, Goldie, Da Grin, YQ, Sliq Metalliqa, Kela, Oluwe Mawe ,

Tha Suspect, Ill Bliss (Ibo Boy) Terry G, Bigiano, African Wadada , Ankara Brothers, Fragrance and a host of others. Priding itself as the biggest street concert in Africa, the organizers said they are leaving no stones unturned to host a mega show this year.

Reacting to the choice of New Afrika Shrine as the event venue, Akpojotor Gbemre, executive producer of the annual concert says, “For now, New Afrika Shrine is the biggest and safest entertainment facility in Ikeja and in the entire Lagos.

And it boasts of the best facilities like giant stage, sound and light. Some of the big acts expected at this year’s show are DJ Zeez,  Fatai Rolling Dollar, Ill bliss, Kefee, General Pype, Dorcas Yeboah, Mo Chedah and the Knighthouse crew.

Others are Freewindz, Elajoe, Nii, Goldie, Solidstar, Artquake, Da Grin, Dokta Frabz, Nyore, T_Code, Annette Cookey, Sliq Metalliqa, Terry G, DJ Jimmy Jatt and Seun Kuti.
