WARRI — CHAIRMAN of Warri South local government council, Mr. Mofe Edema, has commissioned solar-powered street lights and water projects scattered in over 14 wards in the area.
The Warri South Council boss, who spoke to newsmen shortly after the commissioning, explained that the solar-powered street light projects executed by his administration was to complement the state government’s effort in that regard.
Edema said that over 23 people-oriented projects had been completed by his administration this year alone, adding that several other mega projects were at advance stages.
Edema also commissioned the PVC Modular Mobile Fish Breeding Farm and Water project at the council’s main secretariat as well as a water project at the sub-secretariat.
Some of the areas where the solar-powered street lights were commissioned are: Ugbuwangue, Pessu Lane, Eboh Road, Otor-Orere, Edjeba, Omadino,  Ojabugbe, Esisi Ward and Apala Street, while water projects with standby generators were commissioned at Ajamimogha Ward, Otovwodo, Victory Avenue, Merogun Community, Sido Street, Idimijakpa and Ode-Kporo in GRA Ward as well as a public toilet and borehole project at Ubeji.
Mr. Edema, who promised to continually fulfill his electoral promises to the people, also inspected the completed four-classroom block at Ogunu Primary School, renovated by his administration.
The Warri South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Mr. Amah Agbajoh, who was among dignitaries that accompanied the Warri South Chairman during the commissioning, said Mr. Edema has shown that he is a man of the people.
Mr. Agbajoh commendedMr. Edema’s initiative and declared that the party machinery in the local government is solidly behind him.
Leader of Warri South Legislative Arm, Mr. Sunday Aguweye, who also spoke to newsmen, noted that for keeping to his promise of completing the constituency projects and other developmental strides, the Legislative Arm recently passed a vote of confidence on Mr. Edema. Some residence of the benefitting communities, including the Head of Okere Community, Ogieboro E. F. Esisi, who was represented by Surveyor Davies Okorosobo, thanked the Warri South Local Government for the gesture.
