VICE-President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday asked the National Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, to assert his authority and ensure discipline among its members, especially ahead of the 2011 general election.
Jonathan, who said this at the inauguration of the Anambra State governorship campaign team, asked the leadership of the party to discipline any erring member, just as he stressed the need for all to respect the decisions of the National Working Committee (NWC).
He added that as the chairman of the committee saddled with the responsibility of ensuring victory for the party in the forthcoming Anambra State February 6, gubernatorial election, they would relocate to the state and work for success.
According to the Vice-President, “I always tell Mr. Chairman, that, look you must assert the authority of the party. If you do not assert the authority of the party and bring discipline in the party, then we cannot move forward, especially in the 2011 election that is coming up, the party must be strong.
“All of us must make sure that PDP is strong. The chairman has said it all, Anambra is a PDP, I have interacted with people from Anambra state, the leaders, the elderly, the young, everybody and you know that it is a PDP state.
Ogbulafor, who warned party members who castigate the leadership of the party to stop, urged the campaign team to ensure victory for the party.
